Irony lost on Celtic hero as bitterness seeps out after Rangers celebrations

Plenty of people of a Celtic mind are being forced to eat their words after Rangers’ impressive Old Firm win yesterday.

But some are sticking to their guns and Chris Sutton couldn’t bring himself to praise Barry Ferguson for his tactical masterclass – instead choosing to claim he would still want him to land the job permanently.

To be fair to him, Neil Lennon had plenty of praise for the ‘outstanding’ Gers and their ‘brave’ press and tactics.

 

But he also could resists a dig at the same time as praising Nicolas Raskin – wondering whether Rangers would actually be full of regret that they couldn’t produce that sort of performance more often.

 

Now, one of his former teammates has had a pop.

Alan Thompson’s bitter reaction to Rangers celebrations

Alan Thompson is never one to keep his opinions to himself – once branding Peter Lovenkrands a cheat and reopening that argument years later, as per Glasgow Live.

 

 

He had his differences with Fernando Ricksen, too.

 

The former left-winger has now had a go at the current group of players and staff for what he perceives to be “embarrassing” celebrations after yesterday’s 3-2 victory at Celtic Park.

Well done to rangers today on your 3 points and you celebrations after the game were slightly embarrassing considering your 13 points off the pace .

Thompson fails to pick up on his own irony with Rangers comments

Thompson starts his tirade with the words “Don’t be bitter” but it would seem he instantly forgot his own advice by going on to criticise a football team for celebrating winning a football match.

 

This was Rangers’ first win at Parkhead since 2020 and first back-to-back in the derby since 2021. Of course they were going to celebrate.

 

Then you add in the fact Barry Ferguson is just in the door and this is probably one of two derbies he will take charge for so he was always going to lap it up too.
