Rangers’ interest in Israel striker Dor Turgeman is heating up.

The Gers are seeking top-quality recruits in the summer as they try to bridge the gap to arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

The Light Blues are keen to secure Vaclav Cerny’s signature on a permanent basis but they will need more than that if they are to compete with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

 

The Maccabi Tel-Aviv attacker would be a great addition as he has notched 17 goals and six assists in 35 matches in all competitions this season.

Rangers have started to reap the benefits of their transfer policy in recent months, with the likes of Hamza Igamane, Clinton Nsiala, and Nico Raskin emerging as first-team stars.

The Israel forward clearly knows where the goal is and could take the Bears to another level if they can secure his signature ahead of German and Italian clubs that are also interested.

 

The Gers need to stick with the recruitment policy of buying gems from underrated markets and potentially selling them on for huge profits, like they look set to do with Igamane and Raskin.

 

The only way that they will catch Celtic is to maintain that strategy and eventually build a top-quality team with the finances that it generates.

 

If they abandon it, they may be stuck in the doldrums for the foreseeable future, and the targeting of Turgeman suggests that they do not plan to do so, even with the influx of cash from the upcoming takeover.
