Newcastle United are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian international forward Jonathan David on a free transfer. The prolific striker joins the Magpies after the expiration of his contract with Lille OSC, bringing Premier League experience and European pedigree to St. James’ Park.
David, 25, has been one of Europe’s most consistent goal scorers in recent seasons, netting over 50 goals in Ligue 1 and representing Canada at both the 2022 FIFA World Cup and multiple CONCACAF tournaments. Known for his pace, intelligent movement, and clinical finishing, he is expected to play a pivotal role in Newcastle’s attacking setup under Eddie Howe.
The club’s sporting director, Dan Ashworth, expressed his excitement: “Jonathan is a player we’ve admired for a long time. His ability to score goals, create chances, and press from the front fits perfectly with our football philosophy.”
