Luis Palma has quickly made a name for himself at Celtic, but the Honduran winger recently revealed that his connection to the club goes back further than most would expect.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview, Palma shared an emotional story about a childhood dream. “I’m not going to lie,” he began. “When I was just a kid, maybe 10 or 11, I told my mum that one day I wanted to play for Celtic.” At the time, Palma was growing up in La Ceiba, Honduras – a world away from the passionate football culture of Glasgow. But thanks to watching highlights of European football, the iconic green and white hoops captured his imagination early on.
Palma admitted that while many kids around him were dreaming of Real Madrid or Barcelona, something about Celtic stood out. “I saw the fans, the atmosphere at Celtic Park, and I thought – that’s special. I want to be a part of that.”
Now living that dream, Palma says he thinks about that conversation with his mother often. “She reminds me sometimes – ‘remember when you said that?’ And now it’s real. It’s emotional for both of us.”
Since joining Celtic, Palma has impressed with his flair, work ethic, and commitment to the club’s values. But beyond his performances on the pitch, it’s clear that wearing the shirt means more than just football to him.
“For me, it’s not just a job. It’s a dream come true,” he said. “I feel proud every time I walk onto that pitch. I’m living what I once imagined as a little boy.”
