Rewind a little under 10 years, and Daniel Farke was just cutting his teeth in the world of management with Borussia Dortmund’s second team, lasting 18 months in the role.
The German gaffer had managed German minnows SV Lippstadt for six years after retiring at the club in 2008, 17 years ago at the tender age of 31. He joined Dortmund’s second string after Jurgen Klopp leftA four-year stint at Norwich came next, before a move to Russian side Krasnodar where Farke did not actually manage a single game and then the 2022-23 season with Gladbach. Then, Leeds from June 2023.
So, Farke has experienced Dortmund’s ferocious yellow wall, the passion of the Norwich support and the heartfelt romance of managing a side he played for in three different spells – as well as Yorkshire’s finest
