Davide Ancelotti Rangers manager latest as Italian coach waves goodbye to Real Madrid
Davide Ancelotti remains the frontrunner to become the next Rangers manager but all is certainly not as it appears.
Rangers have been linked with a number of managerial options as the club looks to replace Philippe Clement and interim manager Barry Ferguson.
Brian Priske has held talks with Rangers, with Davide Ancelotti and Steven Gerrard the two names most prominently linked to the role.
Leicester City target Russell Martin is also never far from a mention but it’s Real Madrid assistant Ancelotti who is making the most headlines.

It’s claimed that whilst Rangers will hold talks with Ancelotti this week, suggestions the Italian coach has already agreed a deal at Ibrox are premature.
However it is acknowledged that Ancelotti is ‘well-placed’ in the recruitment process with all eyes on these showdown talks in the coming days.
Davide Ancelotti says Real Madrid goodbyes
The speculation surrounding Davide Ancelotti comes after the Italian coach said his goodbyes to Real Madrid ahead of the club’s final game of the season against Real Sociedad.
Ancelotti, 35, took to Instagram in an emotional message to the Madridistas, as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant waves goodbye to the Bernabeu.
Davide is the son of legendary Italian coach Carlo and has worked with his father at Real Madrid, Everton, Bayern Munich, PSG and Napoli, with the coach now set to undertake his first job in top team management.

“After four years… it’s time to say goodbye,” Ancelotti Jnr wrote on social media. “It’s not easy to put into words what leaving Real Madrid means. This club is not just history, it’s demand, it’s greatness, it’s a family.
“I have been fortunate and honoured to live it from the inside, to grow as a person and as a coach in a unique environment.
“Thank you to the players for teaching me every day, to the staff for sharing so many hours of work and passion, and to all the people at the club who make possible what the world sees every week.
“And thanks, of course, to the fans. Being part of Real Madrid means living with the pressure of always winning… and with the privilege of feeling your support all over the world.
“A new phase for me begins. With excitement, with respect, and with the desire to apply everything I have learned here. Thank you Real Madrid.”
Real Madrid ended their season as La Liga runners up, defeating Real Sociedad 2-0 courtesy of a double from French striker Kylian Mbappe.
Xabi Alonso is set to take over at Real Madrid next season, with Carlo Ancelotti moving into a managerial job with the Brazil national team.
