Reported Leeds United transfer target Emiliano Buendia is not likely to be kept on by Bayer Leverkusen beyond the end of the season. The Argentine, who has been linked with a move to Leeds for some time, joined Leverkusen on loan from Aston Villa in January.
However, Buendia has failed to impress since his move to Germany. In fact, the former Norwich City midfielder has started just twice for Leverkusen, playing 181 minutes across eight appearances in total.On his first Bundesliga start earlier this month, Buendia was hauled off at half-time. When Leverkusen signed Buendia the club inserted an option to buy in his contractThere is a feeling that there are better options on the market for Leverkusen to explore rather than spending around £16.7million to keep Buendia on a permanent basis. That could well open the door for the Whites to reignite their interest and bring Buendia to Elland Road.
If United win promotion back to the Premier League, then Elland Road could be an attractive proposition for Buendia, especially after he worked with Daniel Farke at Norwich. It felt as though Farke managed to get the best out of Buendia before his blockbuster £38m move to Villa in June 2021
