Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu has delivered a frank assessment of his team’s performance following their 2-2 draw with Swansea City. Despite securing a point, Ampadu admitted that the result was not good enough as Leeds continue their push for automatic promotion.
Leeds found themselves trailing early in the game after Swansea’s Jamie Paterson opened the scoring within the first minute. However, the Whites responded well, with goals from Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto putting them ahead before the break. A late equalizer from Swansea’s Ronald added to Leeds’ frustration, leaving them with just a point from a match they had hoped to win.
Speaking after the game, Ampadu was candid in his reflection. “We can’t be happy with just a point,” he said. “We know where we want to be, and these are the games we need to be winning. The fight was there, but we have to manage games better and see them out.”
Ampadu emphasized the importance of learning from such setbacks, especially with the race for promotion heating up. Leeds currently sit in a strong position, but dropped points in winnable games could prove costly. “We’ll look at what went wrong and make sure we put it right. We’re still in the fight, and we’ll keep pushing,” he added.
With crucial fixtures ahead, Daniel Farke’s side must find consistency to stay in contention for a top-two finish. Ampadu’s determination and leadership will be key as Leeds look to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
