‘Out on the field’ – James Forrest and Paulo Bernardo Celtic injury update

Celtic will face Aberdeen tonight with almost a full squad to pick from.

Brendan Rodgers is likely to make changes to the Celtic starting XI that lost to Hibs at Easter Road at the weekend as the Celtic manager looks to get back to winning ways.

However, there are two players that Rodgers is waiting to return to the Celtic squad as winger James Forrest and Paulo Bernardo look to recover from their recent injuries.

With the business end of the season approaching, the Hoops boss shares just how long both Celtic players are from returning to first-team action.

Celtic hero is ‘out on the field’ as Rodgers gives superb injury update

First up is James Forrest. The legendary winger has been out since Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final after damaging a foot in the Hampden win.

When asked how the Celtic squad was looking ahead of the Aberdeen game, Rodgers said, “Same as the weekend.

“In a good place. James is still a bit away from joining the squad, but he is out on the field. But same squad.

Hopefully, Forrest won’t be too far away from making the matchday squad but it has to be said that he will have a tough time getting back into the starting lineup due to the form of Jota, Nicolas Kuhn and even Hyunjun Yang.

Paulo Bernardo ‘still a bit of time away’ from Celtic comeback

The news was a bit bleaker when it came to the Portuguese midfielder. Bernardo was predicted to be out for around four or five weeks by Rodgers as he delivered another update on his summer signing.

The Celtic manager said, “Yeah, he’s still a wee bit of time away. We gave him a little bit of time off.

“He’s obviously back in now, so he’s still a bit of time away.”

With just 12 games left of the season and, hopefully, another two Scottish Cup ties after the game against Hibs, Celtic fans will be hoping both players will be fit for the top-six split as Rodgers looks to end the campaign with another treble.
