Coventry City make embarrassing blunder involving Georginio Rutter and Leeds United

It was an embarrassing night for Frank Lampard and Coventry City as Leeds United’s 2-0 win was flattering, to say the least.

Leeds extended their brilliant form in the Championship, as the Whites now have a five-point gap at the top of the tree, and a convincing goal difference.

Daniel Farke’s side are now on a 13-game unbeaten streak and haven’t conceded in six games in all competitions.

Leeds fans were winding up Lampard after Coventry’s defeat as it was a tough evening for everything associated with the Sky Blues.

Before the game had even started, Coventry were set up to fail after a serious blunder involving Georginio Rutter.

During the game, there were plenty of elements to pick out, but Stuart Dallas opted to praise Illan Meslier for the brilliant save he made to keep yet another clean sheet.

Everything was going Leeds’ way and not one bit of luck appeared for Coventry, and that was clear from the get-go.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Leeds fans have watched Rutter shine at Brighton but apparently, he was back at the Whites for a one-night special.

Journalist, Joe Donnohue, posted the matchday programme for Leeds’ game against Coventry before the match had started.

Both squads were set out, and a certain Rutter was spotted in Farke’s squad labelled as number 24 still, which made for a shocking blunder from the Sky Blues’ background team, who had also spelled Josuha Guilavogui’s first name wrong which has been a common theme for opposition teams this season.

Coventry blunder set them up for a night of failure against Leeds

Luckily for Coventry, this wasn’t the worst thing that came out of the Coventry Building Society Arena, the home team’s performance was.

Leeds dismantled Lampard’s side completely, and it was a tough watch despite the 2-0 scoreline.

You could say this was all down to the Sky Blues’ awful performance, but credit must be given to Meslier, Ethan Ampadu, and Joe Rodon, who have looked remarkable as a defensive trio.

Six clean sheets in a row speaks volumes to how strong they’ve been, as even Lampard praised Leeds against Coventry, which is a rare occurrence.
