Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has issued a stark warning to newly promoted teams about the rigours of the Premier League. Having ascended as champions, Leicester are facing relegation after a challenging season.
Both Ipswich Town and Southampton have also been confirmed for the drop, marking the second consecutive year that all promoted sides have failed to stay up. Leeds United, under Daniel Farke, and Burnley are set to attempt to defy this trend in the 2025/26 season, along with the play-off victors. Yet, Vardy has signalled that the leap to the top flight is more daunting than ever.Speaking to Gary Lineker on Match of the Day, the veteran striker reflected on Leicester’s struggles: “It’s tough. It’s been really tough,” adding, “It’s not like we’ve not been trying or not given our all, it’s just it’s not clicked.”
