Leeds United have been tracking the progress of Kalvin Phillips at Ipswich Town, according to a report by The Sun.

Leeds United are keeping tabs on the midfielder ahead of a potential summer swoop. LUFC have the chance to bolster their ranks at the end of this season.

Phillips, 29, has spent this campaign on loan at Ipswich Town from Manchester City in the Premier League. He has made 18 appearances for the Tractor Boys in all competitions, 15 of which have come in the league, and he has scored one goal.

In this latest update regarding his situation at Portman Road by The Sun, the Whites are said to be watching developments at the moment as they weigh up a swoop for later this year. He is due to return to the Etihad Stadium when his temporary deal with Kieran McKenna’s side comes to an end and his future is up in the air.

Leeds United could see Phillips as someone to add more competition and depth to their midfield ranks.

If they get promoted, their chances of luring the player back to Elland Road would be boosted.

Phillips rose up through the academy ranks at Thorp Arch and was a regular for the Yorkshire outfit at various different youth levels.

He broke into the first-team in 2014 and went on to play 234 games in all competitions, finding the net on 14 occasions.

The Leeds-born man, who has made 31 caps for the England national team, was snapped up by Manchester City in 2022.

At the time, he told their website: “City have again proved to the best team in the country with an amazing squad and a manager in Pep Guardiola who is rightly considered to be the finest in the world.

“To be able to play under Pep and learn from him and his coaching staff as well as be part of a such a fantastic squad is a prospect that I am incredibly excited about.”

Phillips’ time at City hasn’t gone to plan though and he was loaned out to West Ham in the last campaign before his switch to Ipswich Town.

What now for Kalvin Phillips?

A return to Leeds United isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.

The Whites need to get over the line first though and out of the second tier.
