Ibrox ‘to get really messy’ with incredible Ancelotti appointment at Rangers
Rangers could potentially be in for a spectacular ride if Davide Ancelotti is appointed as the next permanent manager at Ibrox.
The Gers let go of Barry Ferguson after his interim stint, with Kevin Thelwell and Gretar Steinsson tasked with looking for a new head coach.
Ancelotti is being considered at Ibrox as the Italian coach has left Real Madrid after their final game of the season.
The 35-year-old lacks experience as a first-team head coach, though, so if he’s appointed, things may turn sour quickly at the Glaswegian outfit.

Jackson admits that the 35-year-old could potentially be a “spectacular” success, but suggests that the situation could get really messy if things go wrong.
Speaking on Hotline Live (25 May), the journalist said: “If it’s Ancelotti, it’s an incredible punt. The risk attached to this appointment is really considerable.
“Might be a spectacular success. The apple might not have fallen that far from the tree. He might have picked up everything in terms of his dad’s coaching philosophy and expertise. But if this goes wrong, it will go wrong quickly, and it can end up really messy.”
Ancelotti not right for Ibrox appointment
Ancelotti most recently worked as an assistant manager at Real Madrid but has never held the post of first-team head coach.
The Italian coach has undoubtedly worked in highly pressured environments at Los Blancos, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, but managing in Glasgow arguably has its own challenges.
Steven Gerrard has been linked with a return to Ibrox, and the Liverpool icon’s previous stint, where he won the Scottish Premiership title, may give him an edge over Ancelotti.
Rangers must make a decision soon, as they need to turn their focus on recruitment for the upcoming transfer window.
The new incoming manager will also undoubtedly need time to prepare for pre-season training, which starts in less than a month.
Brendan Rodgers may have lost the Scottish Cup final to Aberdeen, but the Celtic boss still has two domestic trophies to show this season.
The Hoops were evidently miles ahead of the Gers in the current campaign, and that massive gap must be closed immediately.
Considering Ancelotti is untested as a manager, the Ibrox faithful will be right to doubt him.
