What Jeffrey Schlupp said about joining Celtic at the end of the season
Jeffrey Schlupp joined Celtic on transfer deadline day.
The Ghanaian international defender was out in the cold at Crystal Palace until Celtic stepped in and added Schlupp to provide cover in the left-back position for Greg Taylor.
Making his third start of the season in Celtic’s annihilation of Aberdeen, the 32-year-old defender put in another good performance as he threatens to become Brendan Rodgers’ first-choice full-back as Schlupp impresses the Celtic fans in his early tenure at the club.
But with his current loan deal nearing its end and Schlupp’s contract with Palace expiring at the end of the season, the big defender was asked his thoughts on making a permanent move to Paradise at the end of the season as he spoke about how ‘easy’ the decision was to join Scotland’s most successful club.

Jeffrey Schlupp admits the decision to join Celtic was ‘easy’
Schlupp told Sky Sports, “It was an easy sell to me, really. Obviously, I’d spoken to the manager, and he told me about his plans, his vision, and then the targets for this season, and I think they aligned with me perfectly.
“And you know, it’s a pretty easy decision when the option actually came.”
Jeffrey Schlupp addresses a possible long-term Celtic future
Schlupp has enjoyed league and cup football in Scotland as well as the famous Celtic Park Champions League atmosphere so has any of his experiences so far tempted the Ghanaian international to join the Hoops permanently?
“Yeah, I mean, listen,” continued Schlupp, “I’m here to the end of the season. For now, nothing’s been talked about.
“We’re focusing on the league and the cup and finishing the season strong and then, as I say, what will be will be after that.
“But again, I’m loving my time here, and you know all focus is on this season and I will see after.
Jeffrey Schlupp discusses his time at Celtic so far ⤵️
Schlupp is likely to add a Scottish Premiership winners medal and, hopefully, a Scottish Cup one too before his time at Celtic is up at the end of the season.
With the possibility of Champions League football beckoning again next season, will that be enough to convince Schlupp to join Celtic when his contract expires at the end of the season? Plenty of Celtic fans will be hoping so.
