Jayden Bogle has caught the eye at Elland Road this season
Leeds United’s style of play suits Jayden Bogle down to the ground. The full-back has been a great outlet down the right wing in his first year at Elland Road
Some eyebrows were raised over United forking out £5m to sign Bogle from local rivals Sheffield United last summer. It has proven to be an inspired piece of business. Not only has Bogle established himself as the Whites’ first-choice right-back, but he has also weighed in with four goals and two assists. His partnership with Championship player of the season contender Daniel James has been crucial to their success as they bid to pip the Blades to the title. When quizzed on whether Sheffield United will regret letting allowing Bogle to join Leeds, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie told Football League World: “Yeah, I certainly think so. I know Jayden Bogle is a very talented player. “Sometimes it doesn’t have the fit, you want to get away and change where you’re actually at. I think he suits the way that Leeds play because the full-backs get high up the pitch. He can go and get involved. “I’ve always thought that he’s an attacking-minded full-back, but defensively he has them good attributes.
“But yes, I think [the answer] to the question is that they will regret that they’ve let him slip between their fingers and head to Leeds because it looks like he could be playing in the Premier League, maybe against them as well. That’ll be one that they’ll look at and think ‘I wish we’d kept hold of him’.”
Bogle remains one yellow card away from triggering a suspension. English Football League rules state the accumulation of 10 bookings before the 37th match of the campaign will result in a two-match ban. For Bogle to avoid a suspension, he has to not pick up a caution against either Portsmouth tomorrow or at home to Millwall next Wednesday.
