Potential investors are set to be shown wider Elland Road regeneration blueprints next month as civic leaders try to attract interest to revamp the surrounding area.
Leeds City Council agreed to start the process of selling the land it owns around the stadium to Leeds United FC at a meeting last week, a transaction that is necessary for any expansion work to be undertaken.The Council also entered a Memoriam of Understanding – a formal, but not legally-binding, framework agreement – with developers The Lowy Family Group, led by Peter Lowy, who sits on the United board.This is part of the Council’s wider regeneration plan for the area around the stadium which hopes to create an enhanced matchday experience and, eventually, a tram connection.
