TRANSFER NEWS: Leeds line up Callum Wilson swoop after Newcastle exit

Leeds United are considering a potential swoop to sign Callum Wilson on a free transfer after he leaves Newcastle next month.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 33-year-old has been identified as an option for Daniel Farke. His Premier League experience and goalscoring prowess have placed him among the leading candidates for the position ahead of their return to the top tier.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Leeds want to sign two new strikers, as Leicester’s Jamie Vardy is also on their radar.

Vardy, 38, and Wilson, 33, are seen as experienced options alongside whom another forward could be allowed to develop and grow into the Premier League.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 13 April that Leeds are prioritising signing a striker as they do not believe Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe are Premier League players.
