The January transfer window has already seen Leeds United linked with players all across the globe and one of the most-recent touted targets is a household name in England, yet he’s playing abroad.

Much like recent windows during the Daniel Farke era, Leeds are expected to try and bring in some new faces close to the deadline. Farke says Leeds need to strengthen in the no.10 role, and could eye more.

One player that Leeds have been linked with in recent days is Besiktas player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 31-year-old England international has managed just six outings for the Turkish giants this season.

He wants a return to England and Leeds have been linked with Oxlade-Chamberlain. Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to keep Oxlade-Chamberlain this month.

West Ham United make first move as Premier League clubs circle

However, reports in Turkey say that Leeds will have to fend off interest from five Premier League clubs in the race. Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves want Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Now, Turkish outlet Sozcu say Graham Potter’s West Ham have stolen a march on the other clubs looking at the midfielder. Indeed, West Ham have opened talks to land the former Liverpool and Arsenal player.

If Leeds are to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, they must move fast

Clearly, Premier League clubs are showing interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain. But, Leicester and Wolves are embroiled in a fight against relegation and the former England man will surely prefer other options.

That may include Leeds, given the Whites may be in the Championship but could offer a full season of Premier League football at least come the end of the season. Palace and West Ham take him to London.

Brentford, too. Nottingham Forest could offer Oxlade-Chamberlain the chance to play in Europe next season. But a move to Leeds would surely guarantee game time and that may be on top of his agenda.
