Leeds United are actively working to secure the future of their young talent, Archie Gray. Despite signing a contract extension until 2028 in January, the club is preparing to offer the 18-year-old midfielder another new deal this summer. This move aims to deter interest from top clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, all of whom have shown interest in Gray following his impressive performances this season.
The proposed contract would significantly increase Gray’s weekly wage from £5,000 to between £30,000 and £35,000. Additionally, Leeds plan to include an £80 million release clause to protect against potential future transfers. Former Leeds midfielder Carlton Palmer supports this strategy, emphasizing the importance of retaining Gray, especially with the club’s potential promotion to the Premier League.
Gray has been instrumental in Leeds’ successful campaign, making 37 appearances and contributing to their position at the top of the Championship table. His performances have not only attracted attention from major European clubs but have also put him on England manager Gareth Southgate’s radar for potential inclusion in the national team.
