Piroe found the net yet again in Leeds’ 1-1 draw with La Liga side Villarreal, further underlining his importance to Farke’s attacking setup.
The Dutch forward has been in lethal form throughout the summer friendlies, consistently delivering goals and sharp link-up play. His latest effort against Villarreal was a clinical finish, showcasing both his movement and composure under pressure. However, while Farke was quick to praise Piroe’s efforts, he also urged the 24-year-old to maintain that standard in competitive matches where the stakes are significantly higher.
“Joel has been excellent throughout pre-season,” Farke told reporters. “But now is the time to take that momentum into the league. Friendly games are one thing — delivering when the pressure is on, when points are at stake, that’s where top strikers prove themselves.”
Farke emphasized the need for consistency, noting that Leeds will be relying heavily on Piroe’s goals as they aim for promotion back to the Premier League. With the new season fast approaching, the German coach is keen to see his forward make the step from summer promise to autumn productivity.
