NEWS UPDATE:Former Arsenal winger Perry Groves has heaped praise on Swansea City midfielder Lewis O’Brien for his standout performance against Leeds United.

Groves, known for his candid and humorous punditry, joked that his admiration for O’Brien was not just because they share the same ginger hair but because of the midfielder’s immense quality on the pitch.

O’Brien, who joined Swansea on loan from Nottingham Forest, was instrumental in dictating play and disrupting Leeds’ attacking rhythm. His energy, vision, and work rate were evident throughout the game, earning him widespread praise. Groves highlighted his ability to break up play, drive forward with the ball, and make intelligent decisions under pressure.

Speaking about O’Brien’s display, Groves remarked, “I know people might think I’m picking him out because he’s ginger, but trust me, that’s not the case. He was outstanding against Leeds—his pressing, his passing, and his overall influence on the game were top class.”

The 25-year-old midfielder has been a key player for Swansea since arriving, bringing much-needed composure and dynamism to their midfield. His ability to operate both defensively and offensively has made him a crucial asset for the Welsh side as they push for a strong finish to the season.

Groves’ lighthearted comment about their shared hair color aside, his praise reflects the growing recognition O’Brien is receiving for his performances. If he continues to impress, Swansea could be eager to make his stay permanent, while Nottingham Forest may also reconsider his future at the City Ground.
