El Khannouss, a 20-year-old Morocco international, is highly regarded for his vision, dribbling ability, and composure in tight spaces. Having joined Leicester earlier this year from Belgian side Genk, he has already shown flashes of his quality in the Championship, but opportunities have been limited under Enzo Maresca. Leeds believe a loan or permanent move could be feasible if the Foxes are willing to cash in or allow the youngster to gain regular first-team minutes elsewhere.
Farke is thought to be prioritising technical quality over physicality for this position, aiming to add a player who can link midfield to attack and ease the creative burden on Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. Leeds’ struggles last season often stemmed from a lack of central creativity, forcing them to rely heavily on wide areas for chance creation.
However, any move for El Khannouss may be complicated by Leicester’s own ambitions to return to the Premier League at the first attempt. The Foxes could be reluctant to strengthen a direct promotion rival unless a significant financial offer is made.
