Speaking on a recent football podcast, former England striker and pundit Dean Ashton suggested Leeds United should move swiftly to sign Jaden Philogene, the Hull City winger who has impressed throughout the Championship season. Known for his flair, creativity, and ability to turn a game on its head, Philogene has been a standout performer and is now firmly on the radar of top clubs.
Ashton believes Philogene could thrive under Daniel Farke’s attacking system, bringing a new dimension to Leeds’ forward line. “Philogene is the kind of player who makes things happen out of nothing — he’s got that spark, that X-Factor that fans love. Leeds would be lucky to have him,” Ashton said.
However, Ashton cautioned that the transfer would only materialize if Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League. “If they stay in the Championship, I just don’t see him making the move. He’ll want top-flight football, and who can blame him?” he added.
Leeds remain in a tight race for promotion, and their transfer plans are likely to depend heavily on whether they reach the Premier League. Philogene’s current form and age make him a hot commodity, and competition from other clubs could complicate matters.
If Leeds do go up, Ashton sees Philogene as an ideal signing to bolster their squad. “He’s got pace, intelligence, and a real eye for goal — exactly what they’d need to survive and compete in the top tier,” he concluded.
Will promotion unlock the door to this exciting move? Only time will tell.
