NEW COACH:Leicester City have appointed Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager, succeeding Steve Cooper, who was dismissed after just 12 Premier League matches in charge.

Van Nistelrooy, 48, has signed a contract until June 2027.

Prior to this appointment, Van Nistelrooy served as interim head coach at Manchester United, overseeing three wins and a draw in four matches. Two of these victories were against Leicester City in both the Carabao Cup and the Premier League.

Van Nistelrooy’s managerial experience includes a tenure at PSV Eindhoven during the 2022-2023 season, where he led the team to a second-place finish in the Eredivisie before resigning due to a “lack of support within the club.”

Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha expressed confidence in Van Nistelrooy’s appointment, highlighting his experience, knowledge, and winning mentality as valuable assets for the club.

Van Nistelrooy’s first match in charge was a 3-1 victory over West Ham United at the King Power Stadium on December 3, 2024.

As of March 28, 2025, there have been no official announcements regarding a successor to Van Nistelrooy at Leicester City.
