Fresh off landing Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class, Michigan is riding high on a recruiting hot streak. Now, the Wolverines are setting their sights on another top-ranked prospect-2026’s No. 1 offensive lineman, Jackson Cantwell. At 6-foot-7, 300 pounds, Cantwell is a physical force in the trenches, and his recruitment has become a national battle. He’s narrowed his choices to Michigan, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, and his home-state school, Missouri. While SEC powerhouses may have an early edge, Michigan is firmly in the mix.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Cantwell has scheduled key visits in mid-March, including stops at Michigan, Miami, and Ohio State-giving the Wolverines a critical opportunity to make their case.
If Sherrone Moore and his staff can make a strong impression during Cantwell’s visit, Michigan could position itself as a serious contender. But if his relationships with Georgia or Missouri continue to grow, the Wolverines will be fighting an uphill battle. Recruiting elite offensive linemen has become a signature of Michigan football under Sherrone Moore. The Wolverines have built one of the nation’s most dominant offensive fronts, producing NFL-caliber talent at a staggering rate.
The last two recruiting cycles prove it. In 2024, Michigan landed a deep group of elite linemen, including Andrew Sprague, Blake Frazier, Ben Roebuck, and Jake Guarnera. Then, in 2025, they upped the ante, securing five-star talents Andrew Babalola and Ty Haywood, along with four-star standouts Avery Gach and Kaden Strayhorn.
