TRANSFER NEWS: Personal terms agreed – Newcastle United plot £20m hijack for Aston Villa target

Newcastle United are reportedly attempting to hijack Aston Villa’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen, despite Villa having already agreed personal terms with the Dutch international. Villa are in advanced negotiations with Dortmund, having increased their offer to approximately €25 million (£21.5 million), while the Bundesliga club is holding out for €30 million (£25.8 million).

Malen, known for his versatility across the front line, has attracted interest from Newcastle as they seek to bolster their attacking options amid injuries to key players like Callum Wilson. The Magpies view Malen as a valuable addition, especially given his experience and goal-scoring record in the Bundesliga.

While Aston Villa remain in pole position for Malen’s signature, Newcastle’s late interest could complicate the transfer. Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin has acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Malen’s future, stating, “The situation is what it is. We have to wait and see if anything happens.”

As the transfer window progresses, both Premier League clubs are vying for Malen’s services, and the outcome will depend on negotiations with Dortmund and the player’s decision.
