Despite speculation linking the England international with a potential switch to the City Ground, sources close to the club have confirmed that Guehi is not on Forest’s shortlist of defensive targets. The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for Palace since his arrival from Chelsea in 2021 and has also cemented his place in Gareth Southgate’s England setup. His consistent displays and Premier League experience had reportedly attracted interest from several clubs, including Forest, as they look to strengthen their backline ahead of the 2025/26 season.
However, Forest’s recruitment team has decided to explore alternative options due to the high valuation placed on Guehi by Crystal Palace. With the Eagles understood to be demanding a fee well in excess of £50 million for their star defender, Forest have deemed the potential deal financially unviable. The club is also mindful of Financial Fair Play regulations and intends to invest more strategically across multiple positions.
A source close to the club stated, “Marc Guehi is undoubtedly a top player, but Forest’s focus is on identifying value and long-term potential in the market. There are no plans to pursue this transfer.”
With safety in the Premier League now secured for another season, Nottingham Forest are expected to be active in the summer market as they aim to build a more competitive squad.
