Former Rangers manager and respected pundit Ally McCoist has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that Leeds could soon be looking for a fresh face in the dugout. Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist revealed that Steven Gerrard’s name has already been mentioned as a potential successor if the Leeds board decide to act.
“Would Steven Gerrard be interested in the Leeds job? You’ve got to appreciate there is someone in the Leeds job right now,” McCoist said.
“But it’s really important for Steven — his next appointment is absolutely vital for him. Leeds is a massive club, and it would be a fascinating move if it ever happened.”
The comments have fuelled rumours that Leeds might turn to the former Aston Villa and Rangers boss, who is currently managing in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq.
