Patrick Stewart’s independent review that he issued on Rangers is likely to have some “intriguing” results, Alasdair Lamont has said.

The Gers’ chief held a briefing which likely made fans feel that not all the boxes they wanted ticking were coveredHowever, BBC Scotland journalist Lamont believes that the actions he’s taken at the club have proven that the Ibrox outfit have reassured supporters they have a “capable” figure in the role to get the club moving in the right direction.

“Stewart’s media briefing may not have produced the headlines every fan wanted to see, but it should at least have reassured them they now have a man running the club who is capable of creating and implementing a strategy to take Rangers forward,” he reported via the BBC Sport website (15 January).The results of the independent review he has commissioned will be intriguing, although there may be tough decisions required before its outcome is known in two or three months’ time.”One of the main things to have emerged from Stewart’s briefing was the fact that Philippe Clement would be kept at the helm despite fans calling for his head for most of the season.

While the Belgian may have led his team to second in the Scottish Premiership, the fact that 16 points currently separate the two teams says all you need to know about how well he’s done.
