Rangers board to sign off on new manager as Ibrox appointment close
Barry Ferguson has left Rangers, and the Ibrox board is expected to approve a new appointment with help from Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprise.
The Gers icons replaced Philippe Clement as interim manager, and his final game against Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership ended in a 2-2 draw.
Cavenagh and the 49ers have given Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell the reins to search for the prospective incoming head coach.
With the Light Blues’ season coming to an end, things on the managerial front are arguably expected to progress quicker.

Ibrox manager appointment closer as preferred candidate still not known
A preferred candidate to become the next permanent manager at the Glaswegian outfit hasn’t been chosen, according to STV.
The news outlet reports (20 May) that the Gers are close to appointing their new head coach, but the board must first ratify it.

It’s been claimed that the US consortium will also have an input on who becomes the new boss at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard is on the shortlist at the Glaswegian outfit, and Davide Ancelotti and Russell Martin are also being linked.

Cavenagh and 49ers must complete their takeover soon and make significant decisions at the Light Blues ahead of the start of next season.
The Americans are expected to bring a sea of changes to the Glaswegian outfit once they take control, but they won’t have much time before the transfer window opens.
While Thelwell’s appointment as the new sporting director is encouraging, the manager will be the next pivotal cog in the machine.
Rangers may want Gerrard’s return after he won the league title, but fans have differing opinions about the Liverpool icon.
The next head coach will need to be someone whose views align with Thelwell’s in terms of recruitment.
Supporters will want to see the prospective new owners build a team in the upcoming transfer window capable of competing with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Although before the Gers decide who to buy and sell, they will undoubtedly need input from the new manager, which makes it pivotal for a candidate to be hired soon.
