DONE DEAL : 22-years-old FC Basel midfielder Metinho has transferred to Rangers.

However, reports indicate that Rangers are actively pursuing the 22-year-old midfielder, with a potential £4 million bid in the works. Metinho, currently on loan at Basel from French club Troyes, has garnered attention for his performances in the Swiss Super League. Dubbed the “Brazilian Paul Pogba,” he has previously had loan spells at Sparta Rotterdam and Lommel SK. With only a year remaining on his contract at Troyes, the club may be inclined to sell him to avoid losing him on a free transfer. Rangers’ new American ownership, 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh, view Metinho as a strategic acquisition to enhance the squad’s value and competitiveness, particularly in their ongoing rivalry with Celtic. While other English Championship clubs have shown interest in Metinho, Rangers are aiming to secure his signature promptly, even before appointing a new manager. This move reflects the club’s ambition to reinforce their midfield options and challenge for domestic honors in the upcoming season.
