Rangers have officially confirmed the signing of highly-rated Croatian striker Matija Frigan in a deal believed to be worth £6 million, following a successful medical at Ibrox earlier today.
The 21-year-old forward arrives from Belgian club Westerlo, where he impressed with a clinical return of 13 goals in the 2024/25 season, attracting strong interest from clubs in Germany and England. However, it was the Scottish giants who acted decisively to secure his signature.
Frigan, pictured in Rangers’ blue shirt and giving a thumbs-up inside the club’s medical facility, has signed a long-term contract and becomes the first major signing under new manager Russell Martin, who is looking to reshape the squad ahead of the upcoming Scottish Premiership campaign.
Sources close to the club describe Frigan as a “modern striker with high pressing intelligence and a killer instinct,” and believe he will form part of a £10m strike duo alongside potential incoming Israeli talent Dor Turgeman.
Speaking after the announcement, a club spokesperson said:
“Matija is a player we’ve tracked closely and we’re delighted to welcome him to Ibrox. His hunger, mentality, and ability to lead the line will bring a fresh dynamic to our attack.”
Frigan will link up with the squad for pre-season training immediately and is expected to feature prominently in the club’s upcoming Champions League qualifiers.
