Rangers’ summer transfer plans have taken a significant hit as highly-rated forward Hamza Igamane is now on the verge of completing a move to French side Lille. The Moroccan talent had been a top target for the Ibrox side, with negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage. However, a late twist in the saga has seen Lille step in with a more attractive proposal, both financially and in terms of career progression.
Igamane, who has impressed with his performances in the Botola Pro, had attracted interest across Europe, but Rangers believed they were leading the race. The 21-year-old’s imminent switch to Ligue 1 will come as a bitter setback for new manager Russell Martin, who had hoped to build his attacking unit around the young striker.
