Philippe Clement has proven track record in terms of success and winning trophies, but his time at Rangers seems to be coming ever closer to the end.

After a series of embarrassing results and performances, the Rangers manager has lost all sense of how to set a team up and has lost the crowd, and yet there is one reason why he won’t tender his resignation.Because he has tasted success in the past, the Belgian is a proud man. He also believes that last season shows that he is the right man even though the vast majority believe that Clement’s time is up.

The league cup was won, the Scottish Cup should have been won and he overcame an eight-point gap to take his team clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table just as the clocks were about to change. The post-match press conference gave a fascinating insight into his current mindset, in short, unless he is sacked, he isn’t going anywhere:

“Those are things the board need to decide,” Clement said when asked if he realised the fans no longer wanted him in charge.

“In the end, I believe these players want to do the right things. I believe I can get results with these players, but I’m also very disappointed with what we showed today, and I’m responsible for that.”
