SHOCKING:Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam has issued a stark warning to 49ers Enterprises as the American investment group prepares to deepen its involvement at Ibrox.

Adam, who came through the Rangers academy and won multiple trophies at the club, insisted that managing or investing in Rangers is a completely different prospect from their current project at Leeds United.

The 49ers took full control of Leeds in 2023 and have backed the club with long-term plans aimed at steady progress back to the Premier League and financial stability. But Adam believes the culture at Rangers leaves little room for patience.

“This is not Leeds United,” Adam said. “At Rangers, the pressure is on from day one. The supporters expect you to win every single week, and that pressure never goes away. It’s about trophies, it’s about competing with Celtic, and there’s no time to ease yourself in.”

The 38-year-old stressed that the weight of expectation at Ibrox can overwhelm anyone who underestimates the club’s demands.

“You don’t get seasons of transition at Rangers. From the moment you walk through the door, results and silverware are non-negotiable. That’s what the fans demand, and that’s the reality 49ers Enterprises will need to understand.”

Rangers are currently enduring a turbulent period under boss Russell Martin, with the team struggling for consistency and pressure mounting in the stands. Adam’s comments come at a time when the club’s leadership is under scrutiny, and the role of new investors could prove pivotal in shaping Rangers’ immediate future.

The former Scotland international added that while investment is welcome, understanding the unique intensity of life at Ibrox is vital:

“Money helps, but mentality is just as important at Rangers. You have to embrace the demands of the club, or the club will swallow you up.”

As 49ers Enterprises considers its next steps, Adam’s warning serves as a reminder that success at Rangers is judged in one way only — by lifting trophies and toppling rivals Celtic.
