EXPANSION NEWS:Rangers have officially launched a wide-ranging feasibility study that could pave the way for a significant expansion and redevelopment of Ibrox Stadium, marking one of the most ambitious long-term infrastructure projects in the club’s modern history.

The study, commissioned by the board and supported by senior leadership, will examine a comprehensive upgrade of both the stadium bowl and the wider Ibrox campus. Its purpose is to assess how the club can increase capacity, modernise facilities, and create a matchday environment capable of meeting rapidly growing demand.

Full Stadium Review Underway

Rangers will evaluate several key areas, including potential seating expansion, accessibility improvements, the enhancement of concourses, hospitality areas, and the integration of modern fan-experience zones. The project will also explore how to better utilise surrounding club-owned properties such as Edmiston House, the Rangers Store and G51 facilities.

Early indications suggest the club is keen to ensure any redevelopment respects the heritage and architectural identity of Ibrox while transforming it into a fit-for-purpose 21st-century venue.

Fans at the Heart of the Process

A major feature of the study will be extensive consultation with supporters. Focus groups, structured interviews and a full-fan survey are expected to be conducted in the coming months, giving season-ticket holders, members and supporters’ groups a direct voice in shaping the future of Ibrox.

In addition, Rangers will invite the views of local residents, community leaders and accessibility advocates as part of a wider civic engagement process.

Demand Driving Expansion Talks

With season-ticket waiting lists continuing to grow and matchday demand regularly exceeding current capacity, Rangers believe now is the right moment for a strategic, long-term vision for the stadium. Recent smaller upgrades — including expanded accessible seating, improved fan zones and structural works in the Copland — have demonstrated the benefits of phased improvements, but the board sees the need to consider more transformational solutions.

Possible outcomes range from incremental seating additions in corner sections to deeper structural redevelopment such as pitch lowering, expanded upper tiers and upgraded concourse infrastructure.
