Ianis Hagi exit: Late Rangers transfer twist emerges – Exclusive
Genoa are set to run out of time to sign Rangers talisman Ianis Hagi, Italian journalist Fabio Marsiglia has exclusively told Ibrox News.
The Calcio Genoa reporter relayed to Ibrox News on Deadline Day (3 February) that the Serie A outfit had benched plans to sign the Romanian international and had lined up a move for AC Milan midfielder Hugo Cuenca.
However, Milan have since rejected Genoa’s proposal for Cuenca, and a move is now unlikely to occur before the deadline.
Hagi has informed his representatives of his preference to return to Serie A, but a potential Ibrox exit will not be on the cards until the end of the season when his contract with the Gers expires.
But Genoa have now left it too long to turn their focus elsewhere, meaning Hagi looks almost certain to remain at Ibrox until the summer.

Genoa will miss out on signing Ianis Hagi from Rangers
Marsiglia has kept well informed on the Hagi saga as the developments played out and initially informed Ibrox News of Genoa president Dan Sucu’s desire to sign the midfielder “immediately”.
Nevertheless, the story of Hagi and Genoa is not entirely over, and the Italian side will reignite their interest in the summer.
However, this gives Rangers ample opportunity to have their say on the 26-year-old’s long-term future after presenting the player with a new contract offer [David Edgar].

After initially being left out in the cold at Ibrox, Philippe Clement has welcomed Hagi back into the first-team fold and has reaped the rewards.

Hagi has quickly established himself as one of the leading creative outlets in the Light Blues side, with four goals and five assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.
Genoa will undoubtedly rue the decision to choose Cuenca instead, but their loss could very well be the Gers’ gain if Clement convinces the player to extend on fresh terms in Glasgow.
In other Rangers news, a Gers update has been shared as a “late twist emerges” in the deal for Yorbe Vertessen.
