Rangers takeover: Major twist emerges on billionaire board member at Ibrox
Rangers board member John Halsted has been mentioned in the San Francisco 49ers’ takeover reports.
Halsted is currently based in Wyoming and is viewed as a valuable board member at Ibrox.
While he does not hold a significant stake in the club, he is still considered important in the decision-making process.

It has been claimed that Halsted had played a key role in bringing the San Francisco 49ers to the table for the takeover by the Scottish Sun.
However, that is not understood to be the case, with regards to the Wyoming-based billionaire. [Daily Record]
He’s currently the managing partner at Pamplona Capital Management and is worth £1.5billion.
While talks are understood to be ongoing with regard to the takeover, Halsted’s role in the entire saga has been blown out of proportion.

The Ibrox faithful have seen false dawns surrounding takeovers in the past, only for things to fizzle out at the end.

The 49ers Enterprises – the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers – do seem committed and if talks are actually advanced then there may be some interest from the shareholders to sell their stake.
Gers have been crying out for new investment and that’s something that has been openly discussed at various AGMs.
There were even claims about Elon Musk potentially looking to invest money into the club, but those were clearly blown out of proportion.
The Ibrox outfit can certainly do with the expertise of Paraag Marathe, given his proven success at Leeds United and the 49ers.
49ers held a small stake in Leeds initially and then gradually increased it before completing the takeover of the club.
Thus, they’ve got a few years of experience in football and that certainly will come in handy if they do go ahead and complete the purchase of the Ibrox outfit.
