Rangers urged to blow Premiership rivals out of the water with ‘no-brainer’ signing
It’s that time of year again as Rangers fans brace for perhaps the most seismic transfer window in a generation.
With ‘substantial’ US investment on the horizon at Rangers, the Ibrox side are putting in place an executive structure which will allow the next Rangers manager to succeed.
Who that might be is yet to be decided, with Rangers tight-lipped on manager links to the likes of Steven Gerrard and Davide Ancelotti.
But whilst it remains to be seen who will be coming into the Ibrox dugout, one familiar name is once again being linked with a transfer to Rangers.

Rangers urged to move for ‘no-brainer’ Lawrence Shankland
Many Rangers fans reckon that had the club stumped up for Lawrence Shankland in January 2024, they’d have been crowned Scottish Premiership champions.
Others believe that Shankland’s drastic form this season proves that Rangers were right not to meet Hearts’ astonishing £5m asking price.
With Shankland’s contract now set to expire at Hearts, the future of the 29-year-old hitman remains up in the air with Rangers able to swoop in on a free.
For Josh Windass, a Rangers in transition need players like Shankland to be successful domestically and the former Ibrox attacker has branded the swoop a ‘no-brainer’.

”It depends what money he wants,” Windass told Open Goal. “I always think Rangers need players for the league and for Europe.
”It’s proven, I don’t think you’re getting a better striker in the SPL than Lawrence Shankland.
”I think on a free, it depends what money he wants. I remember when we were there we were linked with Louis Moult, who at the time was scoring for Motherwell.
”It’s not the same playing for Hearts or Motherwell and then playing for Rangers, it’s just not the same.
”Whether he’d do as well at Rangers as he did at Hearts I don’t know but I think to have as a back-up striker it’s a no-brainer.”
Hearts CEO speaks about Lawrence Shankland’s future
The comments of Josh Windass come after Hearts CEO Andrew McKinlay was talking about the future of Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland.
With Shankland out of contract, Hearts are at the start of a new era under Derek McInnes with fresh £10m investment into the club from Brighton owner Tony Bloom.
McKinlay has been talking to Sky Sports about the Scotland international striker’s future and admits that Hearts have offered the hitman a new three-year deal.
“Hopefully we’ll have some news on that soon and I think that’ll be news that’ll be welcomed by the fans,” said McKinlay.

”We just need to sort out a couple of things, but that should be fairly straightforward.
“We’re on record as having said that we’ve made an offer, Derek would like him to stay here. Derek’s spoken to him, Derek knows him.
“I’m sure he’ll want to speak with his family and want to decide what’s best for him and his career.
“We hope that it’s back here and we genuinely think that if he did stay here for another three years, which is what we’ve offered, that he would become a genuine Hearts legend.”
