Rangers ‘will need to sell Nicolas Raskin’ after wild £30million claim emerges

Nicolas Raskin has emerged as a star player again at Rangers this season.

 

Rangers recorded an emphatic 3-2 victory over Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday, with the Belgian opening the scoring before goals from Mohamed Diomande and Hamza Igamane sealed all three points.

 

 

 

The midfielder has shone for the Gers since breaking out of the wilderness under Philippe Clement, contributing six goal contributions in 26 Scottish Premiership games.

 

All of this has led to Raskin earning his first senior call-up to the Belgium squad during the latest international break away from Ibrox.

Raskin worth £30 million at Rangers

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, one Rangers fan insisted that if Arne Engels was worth £11million at Celtic, Raskin is worth £30m.

Gordon Duncan was stunned, despite the upturn in form since Barry Ferguson took over the managerial role, saying they would need to sell if he was worth that much.

 

He said: “You’ll need to sell him in the summer, David, if he is worth that.”

 

Whether Raskin is sold or not is a debate for another time, but the Rangers fans will want him to stay at Ibrox unless an outrageous offer arrives.

Rangers new owners could fund mega summer window

Rangers are on the verge of a takeover as 49ers Enterprises, who also own a controlling stake in Leeds United, have agreed a deal in principle to buy a 51 per cent stake in the Glaswegian club.

 

Paraag Marathe, alongside Andrew Cavenagh, is looking to expand his football portfolio and view Rangers as an attractive investment.

 

Even though the due diligence is left and approvals are yet to be confirmed, the 49ers are heading towards owning a majority stake.

 

Should a takeover be completed before the summer, there is a high chance that 49ers, who are flush with cash, can fund a mega summer window, which could see some big spending for the Gers.

 

In such an instance, Rangers would not need to sell Raskin or any other player to fund their summer business, and the club can focus on creating a squad that can go toe-to-toe with Celtic next season.
