Ruben Amorim has previewed Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Everton.

Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend which saw Ruben Amorim’s side slip down to 15th in the Premier League table.

The Reds are going to have to climb their way out of the bottom half of the table if they’re to qualify for Europe next year, although a run in the Champions League would be an almighty task at this rate. It would require winning the Europa League.

 

To make matters worse, Amorim’s side have been hit with an injury crisis and had to name seven youngsters from United’s academy on the bench. The only substitute to have made a senior appearance was Victor Lindelof, who had recently returned from injury.

 

Former United manager David Moyes is looking for his fifth win since returning to Everton as Sean Dyche’s successor. His Everton side sit one place and one point above the Reds.

There will be respect between the two managers in Saturday’s early kick-off.

 

 

Speaking at his press conference on Friday afternoon, Amorim explained that Moyes has done an amazing job since taking over from Dyche at Goodison Park, after lifting them away from the relegation zone.

 

 

“The confidence, the way they play, they believe a lot,” Amorim said. “so it’s an amazing job from David Moyes to recover a team and you can feel the confidence when you watch their games, so it will be a really difficult game.”

 

Amorim has already warned his United first-team players what to expect at Goodison Park on Saturday. Everton are going to be brimming with confidence after their recent run and full of belief.

 

The Toffees are also hoping for a strong finish to the season for their Goodison Park send off, but hopefully United can contribute to spoilling that at the weekend.

Amorim focused on Everton clash

When asked prematurely about winning a trophy in his first season United manager, Amorim stressed that his focus was on the next match and beating Everton.

 

Amorim knows there are lots of issues facing the first team before we can get back to winning league titles.

 

“I just want to win against Everton, I want to be clear on that. We have a lot of issues to solve. If I’m thinking about Real Sociedad and winning trophies, that’s not the right way to do my job.”
