TALKING SPORT:Scott McTominay’s absence from Napoli’s recent 2-1 victory over AC Milan has raised questions among fans and analysts.

The Scottish midfielder, who has been instrumental in Napoli’s Serie A campaign, was notably missing from the matchday squad.

While the club has not officially disclosed the reason for McTominay’s omission, it’s understood that he sustained a minor injury during training earlier in the week. Napoli’s medical team deemed it prudent to rest him as a precautionary measure, ensuring his availability for the crucial fixtures ahead.

In McTominay’s absence, fellow Scotland international Billy Gilmour seized the opportunity to showcase his talent. Gilmour delivered a standout performance, providing a decisive assist for Romelu Lukaku’s goal in the 19th minute. His vision and composure in midfield were pivotal in Napoli’s triumph over Milan.

Both McTominay and Gilmour have been thriving under manager Antonio Conte’s guidance since their moves to Napoli. Their contributions have been significant in Napoli’s pursuit of the Serie A title, with the team currently just three points behind league leaders Inter Milan.

Fans can expect McTominay to return to action soon, bolstering Napoli’s midfield as they continue their quest for domestic glory.
