Simon Jordan sends Rangers warning after what Barry Ferguson has done
Barry Ferguson carried on his strong start to life as Rangers interim boss with a sensational 3-2 victory against Celtic on Sunday.
The Light Blues looked as though they were going to throw away their 2-0 lead but a Hamza Igamane goal in the 88th minute, gave his side all three points.
Ferguson has lost one of his five meetings in charge so far having also seen his side progress through in the Europa League on penalties against Fenerbahce.

Simon Jordan offers Rangers managerial assessment
Given Ferguson was an interim appointment until the end of the season, just how well he has done so far has seemingly surprised several people.
After what had been a torrid season so far under the management of Philippe Clement, supporters are enjoying watching their side win big games and progress through in Europe too.

With the 49ers Enterprises looking to complete a deal to take over at Ibrox, they are said to be considering managerial appointments at Rangers.
However, due to his strong form, it’s no surprise that many are suggesting Ferguson’s name should be thrown into the hat.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (17 March, 12:08), Simon Jordan urged people not to get too excited as he said: “I would like to look at the fact that under Clement they drew with Tottenham in the Europa League which was a difficult game, then went on and beat Celtic 3-0.

“Then I’d look at what Ferguson’s done and he comes in and gets beaten by Motherwell, they go on and get a decent result against Fenerbahce. If they beat Dundee following up from a great result against Celtic which is an even better result than they got earlier under Clement because Clement was at Ibrox, this is at Celtic Park so it has a different permutation.
“So I think it’s got to be distilled and thought about very carefully because I look at this and say this is not a short-term bump you’re looking at, this is a long-term appointment. You made an appointment that didn’t seem to have a great deal of football thinking in terms of football management thinking because his football management credentials aren’t high. His win record at the clubs he managed was low. There’s no indication that he could manage Rangers but the dynamic of him being a Rangers man.
“The results are the same. If they go and beat Dundee that’ll be great because after they beat Celtic last time round they didn’t get a result following that but you would have thought it would be something to build upon. They’ve done nothing more than Clement did.”
49ers have to get Rangers appointment right
There is no doubt that Ferguson has done an impressive job since he arrived at Ibrox as interim boss and for that, he deserves plenty of credit.
Furthermore, if he can keep the standards high until the end of the season, the owners could well choose to take a chance.
However, despite a great week of football, it is a bit soon to get too carried away after he has overseen just five games in charge.
As Jordan points out, his previous managerial record is not strong and while he is a Rangers man, there is nothing on his CV that points to him being a good match for the job.

On top of this, if a takeover does go through, the new owners would surely have the budget to get a manager who is more experienced and can get Rangers right back to where they should be.
You can understand the excitement in Glasgow right now and it does feel better than the Clement days but Rangers don’t want to jump too soon and up in a similar place to where they started.
