In a recent interview, Shaqiri reflected on his time at Stoke City, stating, “I loved being at Stoke. They have a big history, as one of the oldest clubs in the world.” He also mentioned his desire to return to the bet365 Stadium as a spectator, saying, “When I have time to go to some games, I would like to go back there.”
Shaqiri played for Stoke City from 2015 to 2018, making 92 appearances and scoring 15 goals. He became a fan favorite during his tenure, known for his flair and ability to perform under challenging conditions, famously debunking the “cold, rainy night in Stoke” myth.
After leaving Stoke, Shaqiri had stints with Liverpool, Olympique Lyonnais, and Chicago Fire. As of August 2024, he returned to his boyhood club, FC Basel, signing a three-year contract.
