THE REJECTED DEAL:West Ham United reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall during the summer transfer window, despite the midfielder being offered as part of a deal.

Chelsea, who were looking to reshape their midfield options, had proposed using Dewsbury-Hall in a player-plus-cash swap involving West Ham star Mohammed Kudus. The Blues valued the former Leicester City man at around £30 million, but the Hammers felt that figure was excessive and opted not to proceed. Sources suggest West Ham rated him closer to £20 million, leading them to reject the offer outright.

Dewsbury-Hall, who only joined Chelsea in January 2025 after impressing with Leicester, found himself on the move again after struggling for regular game time at Stamford Bridge. While both West Ham and Everton were linked with potential moves, it was ultimately Everton who struck a deal, securing the midfielder for around £25 million plus add-ons.

For West Ham, the decision reflected both financial caution and a desire to focus their resources on other positions. Manager Julen Lopetegui is believed to have prioritised strengthening the defence and adding attacking firepower, rather than making a major midfield addition.

In hindsight, the Hammers may come to regret missing out, with Dewsbury-Hall highly regarded for his energy, passing range, and versatility. Everton, meanwhile, appear to have secured a strong acquisition who could become central to their midfield rebuild.
