Queen’s Park boss Steven Crighton did not hide his emotions after his side suffered a crushing 8–0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox. Speaking after the match, the manager expressed frustration, not only with his team’s performance but also with the reaction from sections of the home support.
Crighton admitted Rangers were outstanding on the night and fully deserved the victory, praising their intensity, movement, and clinical finishing. However, he felt some of the taunts directed toward his players crossed the line, especially given the gulf in resources and experience between the two clubs.
“We know the level Rangers operate at,” Crighton said. “They are a top side with quality across the pitch. But football should still carry respect. My players are young, they are developing, and nights like this are already tough enough without unnecessary abuse.”
The Queen’s Park manager also took responsibility for the result, acknowledging his team struggled to cope with Rangers’ pressing and attacking pace. He insisted the defeat must serve as a lesson rather than a setback.
“We have to learn quickly, stay together, and respond the right way,” he added. “Heavy defeats hurt, but character is shown in how you react afterward.”
