The American consortium is set to hold a majority stake in the Ibrox outfit and a number of shareholders are willing to sell their stake in the club.A decision also has to be made on who the new manager will be, with Barry Ferguson currently on an interim contract.Hugh Keevins, the Daily Record journalist, has issued a comment on the Gers supporters ahead of the takeover.
In his view, some fans believe that the new owners will be spending hundreds of millions in order to make wholesale changes at Rangers.He does not see that happening as the difficulties over a long period of time have to first be addressed before the level of spending is established.Keevins wrote: “This is the danger attached to 49ers Enterprises and their move on Rangers.Some supporters genuinely believe hundreds of millions of pounds will be spent on a transformative change.
“It doesn’t work like that when the difficulties that created such a long period of underachievement have to be addressed before the level of spending on the team is established.
“And deciding who’ll be the manager entrusted with recruitment has yet to be negotiated.”
